Like the previous model, a new car was announced at the 17th Tokyo Auto Salon. Production was continued at the Nissan Motor Murayama Plant until 2001, and thereafter at the Nissan Motor Tochigi Plant. The BNR34 model is the BCNR33's predecessor, the notorious body reduced by 55 mm in wheelbase and 75 mm in overall length, adopting the first advanced aero system for mass-produced vehicles, and has a straight-line design as a whole. Also changed to a hanging type, the round four tail lamps were changed from the previous uniform size, the inner tail lamp was made smaller, the direction indicator at the center, and only the outer tail lamp lights red when braking. In addition, rearward lights and rear fog lights (red) are provided next to the license plate space.

Mechanism
With the last GT-R of the second generation, advanced technology has been adopted in this generation as well.
The lower part of the V spec is made of resin at the lower front and the lower part is a carbon diffuser fired using the first autoclave in a mass-produced car and an advanced aero system with a variable two-stage rear wing spoiler. This diffuser covers the lower and front sides of the lower part of the vehicle body and is designed to take down the running wind, compress and rectify it, pass through the lower surface of the body, and diffuse it at the rear to generate downforce (the lower part of the bumper is larger than the standard car). Midnight Purple II
The R34GT-R was sold until the end of January 1999 to commemorate its release. The structure color (Morphotex) is adopted in the midnight purple color used in the R33 type. Limited to 300 units including V specs.

V Spec II
