GTR-R34, Specification

5th Generation BNR34 (1999-2002)

Started selling on January 8, 1999. It is the last model of the Skyline GT-R in the second generation. The slogan is "Wings on people."

Like the previous model, a new car was announced at the 17th Tokyo Auto Salon. At this time, Nismo not only exhibited the car in the form of a complete car, but also delivered it to several tuning manufacturers and shops in advance, and exhibited a car that had been slightly tuned. Production was continued at the Nissan Motor Murayama Plant until 2001, and thereafter at the Nissan Motor Tochigi Plant. The BNR34 model is the BCNR33's predecessor, the notorious body reduced by 55 mm in wheelbase and 75 mm in overall length, adopting the first advanced aero system for mass-produced vehicles, and has a straight-line design as a whole. Also changed to a hanging type, the round four tail lamps were changed from the previous uniform size, the inner tail lamp was made smaller, the direction indicator at the center, and only the outer tail lamp lights red when braking. In addition, rearward lights and rear fog lights (red) are provided next to the license plate space.

In Terms of Safety

In terms of safety, an optional side airbag was set, and an immobilizer was adopted as a security measure. Following the BCNR33, regular exports to the United Kingdom are ongoing.

In addition, in addition to the conventional V-spec system that emphasizes the running surface of the BNR34 type, the M-spec that emphasizes ride comfort and high-quality feel were set in 2001.

However, as with the KPGC110, production was terminated in August 2002 due to the emission regulations of 2000 due to the influence of emission regulations. On February 26, just before the end of production, the final commemorative vehicles "V-spec II Nür" and "M-spec Nür" were sold for a total of 1,000 units, and sold out on the same day as the announcement on January 24, 2002. Was. Since the successor model Nissan GT-R, which was released in 2007, did not name the "Skyline", the BNR34 is the last Skyline GT-R as of 2017.

In Motorsports

In motorsports, in addition to the R33, he participated in the All-Japan GT Championship, and the Falken GT-R participated in the Nürburgring 24-hour race and Super Taikyu.

He appeared in the Hollywood movies Wild Speed X2 and Wild Speed MAX. It is a real GT-R that was used for X2, but if you look closely at MAX, it is 25 GT-t, not GT-R. (The GT-R was used only in the stopped scene).

This was a real GT-R at the time of shooting MAX, $ 80,000, expensive to use for stunts including imports and blasts in the United States That's why.

Mechanism

With the last GT-R of the second generation, advanced technology has been adopted in this generation as well.

The lower part of the V spec is made of resin at the lower front and the lower part is a carbon diffuser fired using the first autoclave in a mass-produced car and an advanced aero system with a variable two-stage rear wing spoiler. This diffuser covers the lower and front sides of the lower part of the vehicle body and is designed to take down the running wind, compress and rectify it, pass through the lower surface of the body, and diffuse it at the rear to generate downforce (the lower part of the bumper is larger than the standard car). Further, the width of the front bumper is made larger than that of the tire housing, so that air is stored in the tire housing and the brake is cooled by negative pressure.

Tires and wheels have been made 18 inches (size: 245 / 40ZR18, 18 × 9J forged aluminum wheels made of BBS), and brakes continue to be equipped as standard with Brembo as standard, but the body color has been changed (black The mounting bolts have been changed to thicker ones (from 12 mm to 14 mm) in addition to (from to gold) to improve support rigidity. The transmission adopted a 6-speed transmission jointly developed with Getrag, Germany.

In this mission, a synchronization mechanism is also mounted on the reverse gear. The suspension has also been changed to one with an integrated aluminum forged tension rod to improve durability and reduce weight. The LSD adopts the active LSD in the V-spec system like the R33 type and is equipped with the active LSD compliant ATTESA E-TS PRO.

The engine is equipped with the last RB26DETT of the second generation. The maximum output of 280 PS in the catalog specification is the same, but the use of a Garnet C100-GT25 type twin-ball bearing ceramic turbine achieves a maximum torque of 40.0 kgf · m, increasing normal torque in the low rotation range. Comfort is improved.

The engine's headcover was painted red and had a plate with the letters "SKYLINE GT-R NISSAN" printed on it (BNR32 and BCNR33 were black with "NISSAN TWIN CAM 24VALVE"). Nür has a golden cover.

In the car, instead of the conventional triple meter, a 5.8-inch monitor called the multi-function display (MFD) is installed in the center of the console to check the condition of the vehicle, so that the water temperature, boost pressure, etc. can be displayed. (The display items are slightly different between V spec and normal.

In addition, this MFD could use a navigation-equipped with VICS and compass link). A rev lamp is also installed, and it will glow red when the set value is reached. The speedometer is exceptionally a tachometer on the left and a speedometer on the right in Nissan cars at the time, and in the V specification system it is a two-stage display tachometer specification that compresses 3,000 rpm or less of the tachometer.

In the minor change on October 30, 2000, the rear brake rotor was enlarged (from 300 mm to 322 mm) (same as N1 specification), and various foot pedals were made of resin to aluminum with the letter R.

The shift knob has also been changed to be made of aluminum with the GT-R logo (in more detail, the turn signal lamp has changed from orange to clear, and the center console has been adjusted to iridium, etc.).

At the same time, the V-spec became the V-spec II, adopting the first carbon bonnet (pre-painted rather than carbon ground) for mass-produced vehicles. A V-shaped air duct developed by NACA (now NASA) has been added to reduce weight and reduce the temperature near the turbine.

N1

A base model for participating in the N1 endurance race as before. In addition to the same N1 engine, oil cooler, and metal turbine as before, the center console and handbrake are made of resin, making the air conditioner, audio, rear wiper, and remote control mirrorless. The φ322 mm brake rotor mounted on this N1 is standard equipment for all models after a minor change.

Midnight Purple II

The R34GT-R was sold until the end of January 1999 to commemorate its release. The structure color (Morphotex) is adopted in the midnight purple color used in the R33 type. Limited to 300 units including V specs.

Midnight Purple III

A specially-designed model that had been exhibited at the 33rd Tokyo Motor Show held from October 23 to November 3, 1999 and sold until the end of March 2000. Compared to M.N.P.II, it is more glossy.

V Spec II

When the minor change was made in August 2000, it appeared instead of the V-spec. The main equipment is a carbon bonnet with a NACA duct. The character of grade II is red.

M Spec

The specification emphasizes ride comfort and high-quality feel. The undercarriage settings have been changed, and seats with genuine leather heaters handmade and handmade sewing and special steering have been added.

The bonnet is made of aluminum, just like the conventional car, and has a special color of silica breath. The letter M of the grade is black.

V Spec II Nür ・ M Spec Nür

Limited edition of 1,000 units for both grades announced on January 24, 2002 in commemoration of the end of production of the R34 GT-R. Nürn means Nürburgring, a German circuit used by GT-R as a test course.

The engine, water pump, exhaust manifold, etc. are all N1 specifications. In addition to balancing N1 engines with conventional red to gold heads, the turbines are also N1 specification metal turbines. In addition, the speedometer has been expanded to the 300km / h scale, the caution blade has also been made golden, and the grade name, which used to be a sticker type, has become a three-dimensional emblem with A a chrome finish.

Millennium Jade is added as a new limited body-color (Millennium Jade can be selected from V spec II Nür and M spec Nür. Incidentally, V spec II Nür limited color is bayside blue, M spec Nür limited color is silica breath. Is).

NISMO R34GT-R Z-tune

A commercially available complete NISMO car made from high-quality used cars in the V-spec system.

NISMO's 20th-anniversary model. See Nissan Motorsport International #NISMO R34GT-R Z-tune.

Of the 20 scheduled to be built, 19 have actually been passed on to users. Most are NISMO's Z-tune silver but have been rejected many times by Omori Factory at the request of the Japanese user, but finally got one Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple II The stand was made by NISMO's Omori Factory.

1500HP Tuned Nissan Skyline R34

This monster piece of machinery is built by JEM(Just Engine Management) from Sydney, Australia.
This Nissan Skyline GT-R has been tuned to the point of producing 1,500 hp. The Nissan Skyline GT-R is a legendary car. It’s been in movies, TV shows, video games, and more. It’s been a monstrous force in the tuner scene and a killer drift racer in the drifting scene. There are posters of this car lining the walls of many a childhood home, and all this despite the fact it’s 2.6-L twin-turbo engine only put out around 330 hp.
Nissan originally advertised it as 275 hp, but they were a little off on that.
Night view The R-34 model in particular captured the imaginations of tuner garages everywhere. But getting your hands on one can be a tricky proposition--most of them are right-hand drive with very few exported overseas.
Front view Back view Australia isn’t too far, so they have a bit of an easier time grabbing them.
This R-34 GT-R has been given the once-over by Sydney’s Just Engine Management (JEM), a tuning house that has quite a few projects under their belt. This build, called JEM034, is their most powerful build to date, producing 1,500 hp.
According to the video description, JEM034 has been able to run a quarter-mile drag race in just 9.3 seconds and finished at 166 mph. Frankly, we’re not sure why it didn’t end the race sooner with that kind of speed, but whatever. Maybe it’s got a weird gear ratio.
The craziest thing is Gold-Plated Engine cover and Exhaust manifold. Not because it made the car any faster but just to look cool.

History

The history of the "GT-R" is based on the 15th Tokyo Motor Show held in October 1968 as a successor to the Prince Skyline 2000GT-B (S54B-II), which was active in touring car racing. It began with the exhibition of "Skyline GT Racing Specification". It is equipped with a Skyline 2000GT (GC10 type) body and an inline 6-cylinder DOHC engine developed based on the GR8 type engine, a Nissan R380 GT prototype racing car. This "GT Racing Specification" was released in February 1969 as the first GT-R (PGC10 type) in February 1969. Since then, it has been developed, produced and released for the second generation and fifth generation.

It is a model developed mainly for use in auto racing in the skyline, and is one of Japan's leading high-performance vehicles. It features a dedicated engine that performs best within all regulations and regulations in automobile racing, and incorporates equipment, and has won many car sports races in which it participated. Even today, the R32 model, which was released in 1989 (1989/1989), is the most popular, and many used cars are mainly exported to North America, and the exported R32 model is re-imported into Japan and re-registered. This is also being done actively, and used car prices tend to be very high and stable.

Why the Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R Is Still the Best
There is an overwhelming amount of evidence for the excellence of the Nissan Skyline GT-R. Powered by a twin-turbocharged inline-six motor and equipped with a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, this car was a dream come true for many enthusiasts. The first Skylines came about in 1969; however, it wasn't until the introduction of the R32 two decades later that they started to gain real attention.

Why is GTR called Godzilla

The Australian auto press began to call the car “Godzilla” because it was a new monster from Japan, and the name quickly spread. ... Fun fact: It was even rumored that the car was initially illegal in the US because it was too fast for the cops to catch when on a pursuit.
